It was 1941 and we were at war. The First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt championed the controversial ""Tuskegee Experiment,"" the Army Air Corps program to train African Americans to fly combat aircraft. The Tuskegee Airmen included pilots, navigators, bombardiers, maintenance and support staff, instructors, and all the personnel who kept the planes in the air. The list of achievements and honors accomplished and received by those courageous men in contributing to Americas victory in WWII is now the stuff of legend. We here at Stuhrling Original are proud to honor theses American heroes with a timepiece that celebrates their courage and contribution to our country. Following up on the success of its predecessor, the Tuskegee Elite is a simple at-a-glance timepiece with a classic three hand movement and quick-set date. Featuring a dial treated with Super Luminova for ease of reading in the dark, the retro look is reinforced with classic skeletonized Manhattan style hands. Constructed from only the finest 316L surgical grade stainless steel, the large 42 and a half millimeter round case features a vintage coin-edge bezel and complementary onion-style crown. Housing a slightly domed Krysterna crystal on the front, this simple yet rugged timepiece is water resistant to 50 meters. The engine that powers the Tuskegee Elite is a 23-jewel mechanical self-winding movement. Through the screwed-in exhibition case-back you can see that engine decorated magnificently with Côtes de Genève and accented by blued steel screws. A classy twenty millimeter wide, five link solid stainless steel bracelet completed by a push button deployant clasp with safety lock straps the Tuskegee Elite watch comfortably to your wrist. Thank you Eleanor! With dedication to the heritage of watchmaking, Stührling Original timepieces appeal to the most discriminating taste at reasonable prices. Through meticulous labor and rigorous testing, the vision of the Stührling Original timepiece is brought to life inside our workshops, where “Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of intelligent effort.” Assembling a Stührling Original mechanical automatic movement comprises no less than 30 checkpoints, spread throughout the assembly process. The movement must meet more than 7 criteria, including a mean variation in rate which is the highest standard in its class in the industry. Stührling Original remains committed to its mission of preserving high manufacturing standards on all of their fine timepieces. Each and every model conveys an inimitable story with extraordinary style.
